Zaxid D is a combination of two medicines: Domperidone and Rabeprazole. Domperidone is a prokinetic which works on the upper digestive tract to increase the movement of the stomach and intestines, allowing the food to move more easily through the stomach. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) which works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in the relief of acid-related indigestion and heartburn.
How to use
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Zaxid D is to be taken empty stomach. Take it preferably 30 minutes before food.
Interactions / Warnings
warnings Alcohol CAUTION It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Zaxid D. Taking a large amount of alcohol can increase acidity and cause acid reflux in the food pipe causing heartburn. This would decrease the effect of this drug and can aggravate your underlying condition. warnings Pregnancy WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS Zaxid D may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor. warnings Lactation CAUTION Zaxid D is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby. warnings Driving Zaxid D may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive. warnings Kidney CAUTION Zaxid D should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Zaxid D may be needed. Please consult your doctor. warnings Liver CAUTION Zaxid D should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Zaxid D may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Zaxid D is not recommended in patients with moderate and severe liver disease.
