Losartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It relaxes the blood vessel by blocking the action of a chemical that usually makes blood vessels tighter. This lowers the blood pressure, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly to different organs and the heart to pump more efficiently.

Interactions / Warnings
Alcohol CAUTION It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Losartan. Taking Losartan with alcohol may excessively lower the blood pressure. warnings Pregnancy WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS Losartan is unsafe to use during pregnancy. There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor. warnings Lactation Losartan is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby. warnings Driving It is not known whether Losartan alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react. warnings Kidney SAFE Losartan is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Losartan is recommended. However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended for better dose adjustment. warnings Liver CAUTION Losartan should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Losartan may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Losartan is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
